Shock StripShock Strip electrified bird deterrent system is effective against all species of birds to deter them from loafing, roosting and/or landing on ledges at all pressure levels. Shock Strip is recommended for high pressure or high visibility situations. Because the Shock Strip is 1/4″ inches in height, it is not highly visible. The Shock Strip is comprised of two stainless steel cable conductors embedded in an ultraviolet stable PVC compound. The track is supplied with a high voltage, low ampere intermittent pulse from a solar powered unit. Birds are not harmed by the charge, but are conditioned not to return to the treated areas.

Bird SpikesBird Spikes are a stainless steel deterrent product. They deter birds from landing and/or roosting on light to heavy pressure sites such as ledges, etc. The Bird Spikes have a long stainless steel spike that extends upwards and outwards in a way that makes it difficult for the birds to land. Bird Spikes are adhered to the various locations with either a polyurethane sealant, straps or the appropriate screw device. Note that the Bird Spikes may need to be maintained over time if they accumulate debris.

Installing Bird Spikes may appear to some as a task that anyone can perform. However, if too few Bird Spikes are installed, birds can simply land on the areas that are not protected. Conversely, if too many Bird Spikes are installed, the Bird Spikes will be packed together; thus, providing a surface for birds to land and/or nest on.

Bird Spikes do not cause harm to the birds. Rather, the spikes only prevent birds from landing on the protected surfaces. Our Bird Spikes are 100% stainless steel and come with a 5 year functionality warranty from the manufacturer.

No Fly Zone™ Tension Wire



Tension WireTension Wire is used to deter birds from landing and/or roosting on exposed building elements by creating an unstable landing site; thus, forcing birds to move to other locations. Tension Wire is a landing deterrent, not a barrier. The main component is a nylon coated stainless steel wire that has a spring tensioner attached between stainless steel posts. The main advantage of a Tension Wire system is that it is hard to see. This makes it an excellent choice for many upper end buildings such as museums and historical properties. The use of Tension Wire provides an effective, yet non-obtrusive method of deterring many bird species from landing, roosting and/or nesting on roof peaks/ledges, beams, pipes, signs and parapets.

No Fly Zone™ Trapping



TrappingTrapping is sometimes the best and only solution to eradicating a bird problem. For example, we were called upon to remedy a Sparrow infestation at a cell tower, which was located in the middle of a parking lot. The problem was that there were a large number of Sparrows congregating on the cell tower and their droppings were covering not only vital components on the cell tower, but also the automobiles located under and near the tower. The problem with conventional exclusion, control, and/or deterrent measures (netting, spikes, tension wire or gel) was that the cell tower components could not be disturbed in any way and cell service technicians were constantly on the tower for repairs. Thus, the best solution was trapping.

Trapping is a bird control measure that can be effective at reducing bird populations. However, the customer must be patient because this control measure must be performed on a routine basis over a long period of time. Traps must be installed in areas where birds primarily feed. Every trap must be well supplied with food and water. Prior to setting the traps, the birds should be feed for several weeks. After the birds are used to feeding, the cages should be set. By allowing the birds to eat and freely enter and exit the traps, once the traps are set, a higher percentage of birds will be caught. After the traps are set, the traps should be checked every two to three days so that the captured birds can be removed.

No Fly Zone™ Live Capture Programs



On occasion, pest birds enter food processing/packaging plants, supermarkets, food establishments and/or pharmaceutical plants. When a pest bird enters any of these facilities, they create a hygiene problem, which is a public health concern. Thus, these pest birds must be removed immediately.

One way that pest birds that have become trapped within a facility can be removed is through the use of capture mist nets. Mist nets are special nets that are made out of extremely fine, yet strong, fibers that birds are not able to see. The mist net is placed directly in the flight path of the birds so that they fly into the netting at their normal speed. When the birds are captured in the netting, because the netting is so fine, the bird will become entangled in the netting and can be safely removed from the netting.

No Fly Zone™ Use of Lasers in Avian Dispersal



LasersAnother technique used to herd the birds is through the use of lasers. Research conducted by several organizations, such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (“USDA”) Wildlife Services’ (“WS”) National Wildlife Research Center (“NWRC”) indicates that lasers, e.g. relatively low-power, long-wavelength lasers, provide an effective means of dispersing pest birds under low-light conditions, while presenting no threat to the animal or/and the environment. The use of lasers is an effective pest bird technique because of the intense and coherent light wave that when directly targeted at birds, can have substantial effects on the pest birds behavior. As such, this process may illicit changes in the pest bird’s physiological processes; thus, causing the pest birds to leave the target area.

No Fly Zone™ Wire Legs



Wire LegsWire Legs are an ideal bird repellent for light fixtures, HVAC units and related equipment, signs, rooftops, boats and large holding containers. The Wire Legs are constructed out of stainless strands that are weighted at the ends with a rotating base. Thus, as the wind circulates, the weighted ends are propelled in a circular motion, which disrupts a bird's ability to land on or near the treated areas.

No Fly Zone™ Food Reduction



Customers should make every attempt to remove all sources of food and water where pest birds are active. Especially, all refuse must be timely removed and properly stored prior to removal. One of the most successful and long-term measures for controlling bird numbers is food reduction. However, depending on the surrounding environment, this may be an untenable option.

Even after a bird exclusion, control, and/or deterrent system is installed, management should pursue a continuous and vigorous food restriction policy around the facility. The policy should involve the elimination of refuse and litter by regular cleaning and public education to discourage voluntary bird feeding. This is a critical factor in any bird exclusion, control, and/or deterrent strategy.

Although it may be fun to feed birds, this may lead to severe problems. Birds quickly become dependent on human handouts and immediately become a nuisance and health hazard to the general public. By removing related food and water distractions, this will also enhance the effectiveness of other control measures that are implemented.
